V-Slam™ ApplicationGrinding Poultry Feed The Stedman V-SlamT impactor provides an efficient, cost saving alternative to hammer mills for grinding poultry feed. Specifically designed for size reduction, the impactor grinds and reduces poultry feed to over 90% passing 12 mesh in a single pass without the use of screens. Screen “blow-out” and screen maintenance are eliminated. And the V-Slam handles tramp metal with ease. Built tough, the V-Slam reduces maintenance costs and downtime. Wear parts are thick high chrome. The V-slam’s heavy-duty shoe and anvil arrangement provides excellent wear life. Top housing has a hydraulic powered opening for fast, easy access. Distributor plate, shoes, anvils, and other impeller components are easy to replace, simplifying maintenance. For grinding, raw material is gravity fed onto the distributor plate. Wear resistant shoes rotating at approximately 3000 rpm force the material to the sides of the V-Slam where it is impacted at 12,000 fpm against the stationary wear resistant anvils mounted around the housing. Reduced material is then gravity discharged into a screw conveyor system or discharge hopper. The V-Slam reduces foreign material only slightly for easy removal by downstream separation techniques.
